PEC Chandigarh Courses

The PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was originally known as Maclagan Engineering College. In October 2003, the Govt. of India declared the Punjab Engineering College as a Deemed to be University and thereafter it became known as Punjab Engineering College (Deemed University).

In 2009, the Board of Governors renamed the institution as PEC University of Technology. In 1994 this institution was honoured as the best technical college in India by the National Foundation of Engineers.

The Punjab Engineering College has a Training & Placement Cell. The goal of the Training & Placement Cell is to provide employment opportunities, and best quality of training to PEC students, in leading firms.

The reputed organizations including MNCs are visit the College for on-campus recruitment. A common placement brochure for all branches is also published.

PEC Undergraduate Courses

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Aeronautical Engineering)is of four years duration, and the minimum eligibility for the course is an intermediate (10 + 2) in science. Subjects under this  course are aircraft design, advanced aerodynamics, space mechanics, spacecraft design and propulsion systems.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration, and the minimum eligibility for the course is an intermediate (10+2) with subjects such as physics, maths and chemistry. the main focus of this course is basically, planning and designing of various facilities.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. Computer Engineering. The course facilitates extensive knowledge of computer science and its relation with engineering. Few Engineering colleges in India offer this course in the name of Computer Systems Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. The minimum eligibility for this course is an intermediate (10+2) with subjects such as physics, math and chemistry. Subjects under this course are Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Analogue and Digital Signal Processing etc.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE) - Electronics and Communication Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. The admission to the B.E. courses are made on the basis of merit of AIEEE conducted by the C.B.S.E. The student must qualify in the AIEEE, and should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with at least 60% marks in aggregate. Candidate must secure 15% marks in AIEEE to qualify for admission and 10 % for S.C./S.T./P.H.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. The minimum eligibility for this course is an intermediate (10+2) with subjects such as physics, maths, computers and chemistry. Information technology focuses on study of utilization of telecommunications and computers in order to gather, store, control and disseminate information.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. The minimum eligibility for this course is an intermediate (10+2) with subjects such as physics, maths and chemistry. The main thrust of mechanical engineering is on designing and manufacturing of machines.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. The admission to the B.E. courses are made on the basis of merit of AIEEE conducted by the C.B.S.E. The student must qualify in the AIEEE, and should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with at least 60% marks in aggregate. Candidate must secure 15% marks in AIEEE to qualify for admission and 10 % for S.C./S.T./P.H.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Production Engineering
    It is a full-time B.E. degree course. B.E. (Civil Engineering)is of four years duration. The minimum eligibility for this course is an undergraduate degree in science. Some of the subjects under this course are Engineering Mechanics, Projection and Spatial Graphics, Mathematics, Electrical Technology, Physics, Chemical Science, Manufacturing Systems, Computer Programming,  Thermodynamics, Mechatronics, Ergonomics etc.

PEC Post Graduate Courses

  • Master of Technology in Civil Engineering(Highways)
    It is an M.Tech. degree course of two years duration. The course can be under a full time curriculum comprising of 4 semesters in 2 years, or it can be under a part time curriculum comprising of 6 semesters. The eligibility criteria for this course is a B.E. / B.Tech. Degree from an IIT / AICTE approved college/ a university recognized by UGC in the relevant discipline OR the candidate must have cleared/completed A & B Sections of the Institution of Engineers (India), Calcutta, examination; or I.E.T.E. Graduate Examination conducted by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, New Delhi, in the relevant branch and must have at least five years research / professional experience. Also, the aspirant must have a qualifying degree with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA with 5% relaxation for SC/ST and Physically Handicapped category candidates.
  • Master of Technology in Civil Engineering (Irrigation & Hydraulics)
    It is an M.Tech. degree course of four years duration. The course can be under a full time curriculum comprising of 4 semesters in 2 years, or it can be under a part time curriculum comprising of 6 semesters. The eligibility criteria for this course is a B.E. / B.Tech.     It is a full-time M.E. degree course. It is usually a 2 year course. The minimum eligibility is Bachelor degree in Engineering or Bachelor degree in Technology. The subjects under this course are Hydrology and Municipal Hydraulics, Engineering Geotechnical & Hydrogeological, Engineering Water & Wastewater Engineering, etc.
  • Master of Technology in Computer Integrated Manufacturing
    It is a full-time M.Tech. degree course. M.Tech. (Computer Integrated Manufacturing)is of four years duration.
  • Master of Engineering in Computer Science & Engineering (Information Security)
    It is a full-time M.Tech. degree course. M.Tech. (Computer Integrated Manufacturing)is of four years duration.
  • Master of Engineering in Computer Science & Engineering
    It is a full time M.E. degree course of two years duration. The minimum eligibility for M.E. (Computer Science & Engineering) is B.E(Computer Science and Engineering)or any equivalent field of engineering. Subjects under this course are algorithms, Operating System, Programming languages, Database Management System, Computer graphics, Computer network and artificial intelligence.
  • Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering
    It is a full time M.E. degree course of four years duration. The minimum eligibility for M.E. (Electrical Engineering) is a B.E. / B.Tech. Degree from an IIT / AICTE approved college/ a university recognized by UGC in the relevant discipline OR the aspirant must have cleared/completed A & B Sections of the Institution of Engineers (India), Calcutta, examination; or I.E.T.E.   • Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
    It is a full time M.E. degree course of four years duration. Th-he minimum eligibility for M.E. (Electronics Product Design & Technology) is an intermediate (10 + 2) in science. Subjects under this course are engineering mechanics, engineering materials, machine design, engineering economics, power plant engineering , hydraulics and hydraulic machinery,thermodynamics and heat engines,engineering mathematics, design ,drafting etc.
Note: The admission to all the ME courses will be regulated through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in the relevant branch. However, non-GATE-qualified students may also be considered for admission to M.E. courses provided seats remain vacant after considering all the GATE-qualified applicants for admission. 2. Candidates, who hold a B.E./B.Tech. Degree in the parent branch pertaining to the ME course to which they are seeking admission and do not have a valid GATE score and candidates of non-parent branches, will be eligible for admission on the basis of their merit in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the concerned department of PEC. However, ME Electronic Product Design & Technology candidates from Non-parent branches with valid GATE score do not need to appear in the entrance test.
